Position Summary

The Operational Controller (Manager) leads global financial planning initiatives, orchestrating forecasts, budgets, and plans across diverse markets. As a pivotal member of the finance leadership team, this role drives insightful analysis, establishes an FP&A center of excellence, and fosters operational efficiencies. Seeking a seasoned professional with strong leadership, strategic acumen, and a collaborative approach to drive financial performance and global integration within a dynamic multinational environment.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Financial Planning: Lead the comprehensive process for delivering rolling forecasts, annual forecasts, budgets, and plans, fostering collaboration across diverse markets and functions worldwide. Employ automation tools wherever feasible for efficient and dynamic planning cycles.

 

Influential Management Reporting: Provide insightful management reports to local management and the region, playing a pivotal role in influencing decision-making at the highest organizational levels.

 

Insightful Analysis and Thought Leadership: Proactively create high-quality, insightful analysis on operational aspects. Participate as a key thought leader within the finance leadership team, influencing decision-making and identifying key priorities for the FP&A area.

 

Establishment of FP&A Center of Excellence: Lead the setup of an FP&A center of excellence, driving support structures for the organization's advancement.

 

Team Leadership and Guidance: Manage a team responsible for standard cost and provide them with necessary guidance and support.

 

M&A Integration and FP&A Transformation: Support M&A integration workstreams and assist newly acquired businesses in establishing their FP&A processes. Lead the transformation of the FP&A function, emphasizing overhead management by department and enhancing cost awareness and accountability among department heads.

 

Cross-functional Collaboration and Process Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and operational efficiencies, identifying opportunities for cost savings.

 

Leadership and Development: Provide leadership, guidance, and support to finance operations teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development, and promoting a high-performance work environment.

 

Operational Partnership and Global Networking: Partner with operational management in finance and performance-related aspects. Connect with colleagues in other countries and regional controlling to exchange best practices.

 

Your expertise - Our strength

Experience: 10+ years' experience, predominantly in FP&A/Commercial/Operational/finance backgrounds.

 

Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in P&L, balance sheet, NWC, and Investment Appraisal processes.

 

Communication and Influencing: Excellent communication skills, demonstrating the ability to articulate ideas effectively across diverse audiences. Strong influencing skills at all organizational levels.

 

Leadership Qualities: Proven strategic leadership qualities, building credibility at senior levels. Collaborative nature with different cultures, driving colleague engagement and commitment.

 

Adaptability and Cultural Sensitivity: Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable in changing environments. Ability to navigate ambiguity and setbacks, focusing on solutions and demonstrating sensitivity to different cultural needs.

 

Education and Certifications: Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting or related field.

Fluent in Business Japanese and English (written and spoken).
